Hot Chelle Rae are back with “Hung Up,” the infectious first single off their upcoming album. While the song details being hooked on a girl they can’t resist, the music video tells a slightly different story.
Released today, the “Hung Up” video follows each band member helplessly swooning over the same blonde. Nervous and tongue-tied in front of her, each of the guys are seen tripping over their own two feet, falling off their skateboards and running to catch up with their leading lady. Watch it all unfold below.
The band is currently in the studio working on the followup to 2011′s Whatever. Frontman Ryan Follesé recently talked with Billboard about the upcoming release.
“On this next album, we have some material that’s a little bit more of a throwback, but this one felt like it was the right song at the right time,” Follesé said. “What’s to come will be a little bit more surprising. There’s going to be a lot more organic [material]. I feel like ‘throwback’ here is the best way to describe it.”
Each member of the band is playing his part in the songwriting and Hot Chelle Rae are currently narrowing the list down from the original 20 they wrote together.
“I’d say that there’s maybe eight or nine that we all love, or that we all are on the same page about,” he said. We’re trying to get down to that moment where it becomes this cool little competition at the end, trying to out-write each other.”
Expect a release from Hot Chelle Rae out later this year.
